The XFL opening weekend begins on Saturday, February 18th, and the fans could not be more excited. Incredible football is on the way to many cities during the winter and spring months, meaning predictions and previews are absolutely necessary.
Arlington Renegades Defeat Vegas Vipers at Home
Not only is Arlington a slightly better team on paper, but they will also be playing in their first home appearance of 2023. They already have a leg up, and with some of these guys having spent a lot of time off from football, home-field advantage can mean a lot.
Josh Hawkins is absolutely the X-Factor, as I have him touted as the favorite for Defensive MVP. This paired with the special team’s star in Marquette King, this team looks prepared for this Vegas team.
Vegas does not seem to be a great team this year, but the offense looks serviceable. Martavis Bryant and Matt Jones round out the offense, with the consistent Luis Perez under center. The defense is absolutely lacking, which makes me think this will be a low-scoring game. However, Arlington looks better and should come out on top.
Houston Roughnecks Take Win Against Orlando Guardians
Orlando looks to be the worst team in the XFL this year, while the Roughnecks hope to retain some of the success they saw in 2020. This Roughnecks team has incredible potential, and Kaleb Eleby has the potential to take over a football game.
Cody Latimer is clearly Orlando’s shining star, but the team has too many gaps to beat this consistent Roughnecks team. The Roughnecks do not have a lot of name value on their roster, but they are a brick wall of strength and athleticism.
St. Louis Battlehawks Make Easy Work of San Antonio Brahmas
The Battlehawks seem to be the best team in the XFL, with an experienced quarterback AJ McCarron making many tickets sell. His time in the NFL has provided unique wisdom and knowledge for McCarron, and he knows his way around a football field. His co-stars on defense will guide them to a great victory.
However, this game will not decide the Brahmas’ season. They have an incredible roster and should win more than half of their games. Jack Coan has potential at quarterback, but with McCarron, you know what you’re getting.
Seattle Sea Dragons Make it Out Alive Versus D.C. Defenders
Although the Defenders are playing at home under the lights, the Sea Dragons are easily the better squad. However, the game will be much closer than anticipated. Although the quarterback bias for Ben DiNucci will always be there, the opening week will shroud his true potential.
Not only is DiNucci so incredible, but the team built around him is incredible. However, the Defenders team has a loaded offense that will keep them close in every game. With D’Eriq King and Ryquall Armstead providing points at will, the Sea Dragons need to hold it down.
