As the NFL season continues to tick on, people are trying to figure out how the Cardinals are 7-1. Sure, they lost their game last week to the Green Bay Packers, but before that won seven straight games. Some of those seven games were against pretty good teams too.
Now, one thing you’ll have to remember is aside from a few games, the schedule has been kind to Arizona. Still, we can’t sell them short as they made easy work of their division rival, the Los Angeles Rams. That being said, there’s more to Arizona than just the schedule, which we’ll go into detail on below.
A spectacular offense led by a talented QB
The Arizona offense is something that’s talked about quite frequently. On average, the Cardinals score over thirty points per game, ranking fourth in the NFL. They pass for 264.9 yards per game, ranking tenth. They also average 128.8 rushing yards per game, seventh in the NFL. Put all that together and you’ve got an unstoppable offense.
Add a quarterback capable of using his legs, arms, and most importantly brain, and you get the Arizona Cardinals. Kyler Murray isn’t your run-of-the-mill mobile QB, he’s also a great decision-maker. When watching Murray all you can think of is a prime Russell Wilson. A player that can bail out of the pocket with ease, or deliver deep shots down the field.
An unforgiving defense known for ruining opposing QB’s
The Cardinals started the season off with a bang against the Tennessee Titans. Their offense wasn’t quite the talking point though, it was their defense. The hard-nosed defense of the Cardinals carried on from that point and is still one of the league’s best. They excel in defending the pass, allowing just 196.9 passing yards per game.
The best part about the Cardinals defense is they know the areas where they can be better. Even though they allow just 17.3 points per game (third in the NFL) they’re still fine-tuning their defense. The Cardinals don’t want to get complacent and want to remain as one of the league’s best. This kind of attitude is exactly what they’ll need to get better as the season continues.
How far can the Arizona Cardinals go?
The answer to this question is however far they want to go. Nobody in the NFC has been able to stop them, aside from the Packers. Even then, had one play gone differently, the Cardinals would’ve won. If these two meet again, the outcome will likely be much different.
In the event that the Cardinals make it to the Super Bowl, the only concerning point is inexperience. This team has recently become very good and the large scale of the Super Bowl could be overwhelming. Still, we’ll just have to wait and see what the Cardinals have in store for the rest of the year.
