The 2022 NFL pre-season kicks off on Thursday and with that 32 fanbases, all have reasons for excitement with football coming back. However, there are only a dozen or so teams that realistically have a chance to hoist the Lombardi trophy so here are the top three contenders.

Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills have been a legit Super Bowl contender for the past two seasons but they finally look like they are ready to reach the next step. Buffalo has one of, if not the best quarterback in the league in Josh Allen while also having weapons for him in Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis, Dawson Knox, and Isaiah McKenzie.
Although their offense gets a ton of credit, their defense is also a big reason for their success and it starts with its secondary of Tre’Davious White, Micah Hyde, and Jordan Poyer. The knock on the Bills was their pass rush but that no longer seems to be a problem with the addition of Von Miller while also having Ed Oliver, Greg Rousseau, AJ Epensa and bringing back Shaq Lawson and Jordan Phillips.
The Bills are the Super Bowl favorites for a reason and this season seems like their best shot at winning.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Anytime you have Tom Brady at quarterback you are a Super Bowl contender and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are lucky to have him under center.
Although Brady temporarily retired he did return and the Bucs gave him some new weapons in Russell Gage while also having Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Leonard Fournette, Cameron Brate, and Kyle Rudolph. Losing Rob Gronkowski does hurt Tampa Bay a bit but if Rudolph can get back to form he will make sure the Bucs fans don’t miss Gronk.
Along with having a solid offense, Tampa Bay also has an underrated defense but a big reason why they are among the Super Bowl favorites is due to the fact they are in a weak division. The Bucs should be able to run through the division and cruise to a playoff spot. Once the playoffs start, this team knows how to win, and what better way for Brady to go out then win a Super Bowl.
Los Angeles Chargers
Many may point to the Los Angeles Rams, Kansas City Chiefs, or Green Bay Packers as the third option but the Chargers have all the tools to pass the Chiefs and become the second threat in the AFC.
Kansas City, Green Bay, and LA all lost too many key players while the Chargers had a great off-season and Justin Herbert is only getting better. The Chargers have a great offense with Pro Bowl-level QB, RB, and two WR in Keenan Allen and Mike Williams.
The defense also got a big addition with Khalil Mack and pairing him with Joey Bosa is a dangerous duo for opposing teams to deal with. The Chargers have all the tools to win their division and dethrone the Chiefs and prove they are a Super Bowl contender this year.
