The New York Giants have surprised many fans and have started off the season with a 3-1 record. Although we don’t know how the rest of the season will turn out, the Giants players, coaches, and organization have worked to make a solid team.
This team was not bought on the contrary the team was built and grown. Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley were both drafted to the New York Giants and have played for the team to date. Breaking down the stars and advantages of this team shows they will rise.
Daniel Jones
Drafted 6th overall in the first round to the New York Giants in 2019, Daniel Jones, has been the future of this New York team. After being in the league for three years Jones has had a rocky start and is still trying to make his mark in the NFL.
Though Jones has had a rough start to his career his ceiling still is shown through his play. Jones has been honing his passing ability and showing off his running ability. A quarterback and wide receiver’s connection is important and there’s no doubt Jones has been putting in the work in the off season to get that connection.
In the last three seasons Jones has thrown over 2400 yards since joining the league and to go along with those yards Jones would get over eight touchdowns a season. There’s a lot of raw skill but the biggest knock on Jones’ game is his high rate of interceptions.
The high rate of interceptions will drop off with time in the league, all of the stepping stones are set up for Jones to become one of the best quarterbacks in the league.
Saquon Barkley
When Saquon Barkley was drafted by the Giants in the 2018 season he quickly made a mark in the NFL rushing for over 1300 yards. Sadly Barkley would be bitten by the injury bug in the back end of his second season in the league. He would suffer a bad high ankle sprain putting a strain on his play.
In 2018 the injury bug struck again when Barkley completely tore his ACL in his right leg. Barkley was almost forgotten by the league and fans, most people believe he wouldn’t be able to get back to the player he was before the injury. Although throughout the injuries Barkley never gave up and came back in the 2022 season with a vengeance.
Barkley in the span of four games has rushed for over 400 yards in four games on eighty four attempts. Looking to continue to make his mark on the league, Barkley has brought the Giants back from a rebuild once again.
