Why hasn’t this trade happened yet? It has been so long that he has been in trade rumors but what’s the issue? Watson has been accused of numerous counts sexual harassment.
It isn’t that deep but I won’t dive into the issue. Now this may be an issue because he might be placed on the commissioner’s exempt list. Which means he will be unable to play.
Roger Godell has not decided whether or not Deshaun Watson will be placed on the exempt list.”Obviously, the police have been investigating, and we don’t have access to all of that information at this point in time,” Goodell said. “We pride ourselves on not interfering in that and in being as cooperative as we can in order to get all the facts. I think that process is still ongoing.”
The other issue has to do with Watsons contract. It has nothing to do with the size of his contract rather one of the terms in his contract. When the Texans signed Watson long term, they gave him a “no trade clause”. What this means is the Texans can’t trade Watson without him waiving the clause. So he has control over his trade destination.
Where will he get traded
There have been no reports from the Texans that disclosed to the public the price of Watson. One would assume it is a mix of picks totaling around 2000 points on the chart and maybe a few players to develop their future.
Three teams have floated around trading for Watson. The teams are the Panthers, the Broncos, and the Dolphins.
The Broncos have the pieces to make an aggressive move for the QB to propel them to a title team. They have a few picks and a decent amount of players that they could trade for him.
However, they have fallen out of recent trade rumors for reasons that nobody knows. Probably because they are unable to outbid the other teams.
The Panthers are more equipped to make a trade. Very similar to Denver, they need a QB very badly.
Turns out Sam Darnold put on a smoke show for the first few weeks but now he went back to “Jets form”. But there seems to be one problem, Watson is supposedly not willing to waive his clause to go play for the Panthers.
The Miami Dolphins seem to be the only team that Watson is willing to waive his clause for. Yesterday evening, Texans reporter John McClain said that the two teams have already reached a deal.
The Dolphins are waiting on the legal situation before making any immediate actions. But until anything is official, anything can happen.
