For the past few years, the Bills and Chiefs have faced off in the regular and postseason multiple times. Both teams have continued to get better with each passing year up to date, and both teams stand as juggernauts in the league and consistent super bowl contenders.
At the core of this rivalry is the two quarterbacks, Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes. Considered to be two of if not the best quarterbacks to play in the league today. Each with their own respected accolades and records. This rivalry truly started in their first match-up in 2020.
The five-and-one Chiefs took on the four and two Bills in a regular season game on October 19th. This would be the preview for what was to come in the postseason as the Chiefs were coming off of a super bowl championship and the Bills had started their come up to being one of the best teams in the league.
The Chiefs would win 26-17 showing their dominance through the entire game, clearly looking like the better team. This would not change during the AFC championship as the Chiefs would win again 38-24. Although the Bills lost their heart was shown as they put up a fight on every drive and looked like time would greatest alley after the game.
Once again, the Chiefs and Bills would face off in the regular season but with a much different outcome. The Bills led by Josh Allen, looked even better and more hungry for a championship throughout the start of the season. Allen put on a show putting up thirty-eight points compared to Mahomes twenty.
Things would change once again come the AFC divisional game, where one of the best games of football was played. This game was a phenomenal display of elite offense as both quarterbacks threw for three touchdowns.
The game would go back and forth the entire way, with the Chiefs scoring six points in the fourth quarter to tie the game and send it into overtime. The coin was flipped, and the Chiefs chose to start with the ball. Mahomes would drive down the field and score a touchdown ending the game. The Bills were crushed as they had no chance to score themselves, leaving the team in a crushing defeat to end the season.
As the 2022-2023 season continues on the rivalry between the Bills and Chiefs rages on as they face off once again in the regular season. The Bills would take the regular season win once again in a tight game that ended with a total score of 24-20.
Once again, both of these teams are very closely matched, and many fans debate on if the teams will face off again in the playoffs and if this is the year the Bills will finally win when it matters most.
