The current status of the NFL is in flux as players are being paid a ridiculous amount of money. Many athletes are being offered upwards of 20 million dollars a year to play football. I’m trying to decide who in the NFL is overpaid and who is underpaid.

Falcons Favorite Vet

Quarterback for the falcon’s Matt Ryan has received an annual salary of 30 million dollars. Ryan is a 14-year veteran of the sport of football. Holding a long streak of 4,000-yard seasons for consecutive years until this year ends. Also, this year he has had a 20-touchdown season being one of his worst performances, worse than in recent years. I believe Matt Ryan is currently overpaid. For a veteran quarterback, I believe he did an amazing job this past season, but you can see his decline slowly coming. The flacons ended their season with a 7-10 record and finished third in the NFC south.

Vengeance Tour

Dak Prescott plays quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. In the 2021 season, Dak completed 68.8% of his passes and threw for 4,449 yards. Dak was able to complete 37 touchdowns and only throw for 10 interceptions only having 4 interceptions in the previous season. Dak is only 28 years of age, but he has received a 40 million dollar contract returning from an ankle injury he has got in 2020.

Dak came back with a vengeance as he had career-high stats. As a starter, Dak has a record of 53-32. I believe Dak is Paid proportional to his talents. Overcoming adversity and then returning and putting up career-high numbers is very impressive, and I believe Dak has a couple of good years left.

Texans troubles

Deshaun Watson is the Quarterback for the Texans and has a contract playing Watson and an annual salary of 39millions dollars. Comparatively, Deshaun had gained passing yards of 4,823 being far higher than the previous two players on this list. Watson is known to be one of the top young talents in the NFL. Due to the Field issues Watson has faced controversy and is battling civil lawsuits. 22 civil lawsuits to be accurate and 10 criminal complaints. I am unsure if he will play for the Texans moving on.

I Believe this situation is detrimental to the Texans and they should just release him. I believe DeShawn Watson is overpaid. For a player to receive millions of dollars they must have the presence of mine to stay out of trouble and be a role model in the eyes of the public.

Broncos Savior

Last on this list is Russel Wilson. Russell Wilson was traded to the Broncos during the 2022 off-season and he’s one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL with an annual salary of $35 million. Russell built his fame with his former team the Seattle Seahawks with 149 consecutive regular-season starts. Russell threw for an average of 3,987 yards and 32 passing touchdowns. I believe Russell Wilson is Overpaid. Russell Wilson is a veteran quarterback, but I believe he’s overpaid, and the Broncos will suffer this year because of his inability to carry a team.
