Abhishek’s Top 5 Rookies Ranked

#1 – Micah Parsons, LB, Dallas Cowboys

Parsons has been making a stark impact on the NFL this season. Against Carolina in Week 4, the Dallas defense looked impeccable, led by linebacker Micah Parsons. Parsons this season has 17 total tackles, 2.5 sacks, and many tackles for loss. His leadership and energy has taken the Dallas defense miles from where it was last season. For a rookie to make impacts this soon into the season is quite impressive.

#2 – Greg Newson, CB, Cleveland Browns

Though Newsome missed the last game in Week 4 against the Vikings, his impact the first three weeks have been amazing. Newsome is a pure athlete with amazing instincts as a cornerback. Though a rookie, Newsome has played 94% of all snaps for the Cleveland defense. What began as a three-star prospect has now become one of the best young corners in the NFL.

#3 – Rashawn Slater, OT, Los Angeles Chargers

Slater has continued his dominance that began at Northwestern University. The Chargers assigned Slater the role to protect their young star quarterback Justin Herbert. Tasked with such a vital role, Slater has faced over 80 pass rushes and has not allowed a single sack. Slater is the rock in this Chargers offensive line and is a major reason behind the offense’s success.

#4 – Patrick Surtain II, CB, Denver Broncos

Surtain was asked by Coach Fangio to play three positions: the outside, the slot, or the weakside linebacker. Fangio admits this is something rarely asked of rookie corners but he decided Surtain was deserving of the role. After taking the starting job in Week 2, Surtain has played 93% of snaps. He has an interception, 13 solo tackles, and 2 pass deflections over the past three weeks. He looks to continue dominating.

#5 – Ja’Marr Chase, WR, Cincinnati Bengals

Chase has begun the 2021-2022 NFL season on fire. Reunited with LSU teammate Joe Burrow, Chase has easily been the favorite target in the Bengals WR room. After only 4 weeks, Chase has racked up 297 yards and 4 touchdowns, leading all rookie receivers in receiving touchdowns. He continues to make his impact this season, hopefully having a historic rookie season.
