Sports lineages are always impressive to follow in sports. Whether it is the Griffeys in baseball, the Currys in basketball, or any other family of athletes, seeing multiple members of one family make it professional in their sport is incredible. Today, we will be looking at the next great member of one of the greatest football families of all time.
The Manning name has become synonymous with football. Archie was a quality quarterback for the Saints, his son Peyton was a Hall of Fame caliber quarterback with the Colts and Broncos, and his other son Eli won two Super Bowls with the New York Giants. Although his third son, Cooper, did not play in the NFL due to injury, Cooper’s son Arch looks like the next big thing.
Who is Arch Manning?
Arch is only 16, but according to his grandfather Archie, he is ahead of his uncles Peyton and Eli at the same age. Colleges are already lining up at the door trying to get the next great Manning family member to commit to their school. However, one college reportedly stands out.
According to Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports, Manning enjoyed visiting Georgia and meeting the staff. He was reportedly impressed by the facilities and all that Georgia has to offer. He also liked the offense that Georgia runs.
However, he is still extremely young and will probably be impressed with most of the top schools he visits. Other programs he is scheduled to meet with include Alabama and Clemson. The fact that top tier schools are already showing interest in the 16 year old speaks to his very high ceiling.
Because of the name on the back of his jersey, there is going to be an immense amount of pressure. But so far, Arch has displayed the ability to rise above it. In his first nationally televised game as just a high school sophomore, Manning threw for two touchdown passes and also added two more rushing scores as well.
Leaning on the Family
The Manning family has been a great protector of Arch as well. They have withheld him from meeting with the media and have encouraged him not to commit to any college too soon. With a family that includes Archie, Eli, and Peyton Manning, Arch is undoubtedly in good hands. Even his father Cooper was a talented player before the injury.
It would be a heartwarming story if Arch made it to the NFL since Cooper never had that opportunity.
Learning from his family will also be an advantage for him as well. Whenever he has questions or is going through a rough patch, he has three former NFL quarterbacks to lean on.
What does Arch’s Future Entail?
It will be interesting to follow the career of Arch Manning. Barring an unforeseen circumstance, it looks like Arch will carry on the Manning legacy into the football world. Based on what we know now, the skys the limit for young quarterback.
