Michigan football has not been talked about at all this season, especially considering they are one of the four teams in the College Football Playoffs.
The Wolverines are leading the Big 10 with a record of 13-0 this season. The Wolverines and the Georgia Bulldogs are the only teams with undefeated seasons. TCU has been talked about way more this season than Michigan, but Michigan was the only team to blow the Ohio State Buckeyes out of a game and deserves shine for that.
The Buckeyes are playing the Bulldogs in the first game and might not be able to make it out victorious. The man that has led the Michigan Wolverines to this glorious season and a potential National Championship is quarterback J.J. McCarthy, whom they have relied on all year.
Another player the Wolverines rely on is running back Blake Corum, who has just run through all of the defenses this year. These two work unbelievably well together and will show that during their first playoff game against TCU.
J.J. McCarthy is underrated
We have heard little about McCarthy this year, which makes little sense to me.
McCarthy has diced up so many defenses, including one of the top moments in college football against the Buckeyes. No one talked about how well McCarthy played during that game, and I thought this oversight would never happen again. The Wolverines are in the driver’s seat during their game against TCU, and, again, Michigan is getting overlooked.
McCarthy has had a great running back in the backfield this year which prevents him from throwing the ball a lot, but he has done well in the passing game when needed.
McCarthy has thrown for 2,376 yards this season while also throwing for 20 touchdowns. Another impressive aspect of McCarthy’s game is that he only has three interceptions this season which is tied for sixth, according to ESPN.
Blake Corum is a Stud
What has Blake Corum not done for the Wolverines this year?
I believe that Corum is a solid reason why the Wolverines are where they are right now. You hear about all of the wide receivers nowadays, but Corum is proving that running backs can play some ball. Corum has run through every defense they have played this year, and one of those defenses was Penn State. In the game against Penn State, Corum got the ball 28 times and picked up 166 rushing yards.
Sadly, Corum injured his left knee late in the first half of the game against Illinois and did not play much against the Buckeyes. That said, Corum has been given a while to heal before the two big games the Wolverines will have. Corum will be a man to watch during the TCU game because he will be able to break down their defense and show their weaknesses.
This Michigan team will fight until the end and will not go down without a fight during these last two games of the season. And when the dust settles on the College Football Playoffs, the Michigan Wolverines might be the National Champions.
