Jalen Hurts could be the NFL’s new MVP.
Hurts has two seasons of the NFL under his belt and is now chasing a Super Bowl and an MVP all in one year. His ability to throw and run was displayed this past Sunday against the Packers.
On Sunday, Hurts set the single-game rushing record for an Eagles quarterback, the leader before this was Michael Vick. It is unheard of for a quarterback to have more rushing yards than more passing yards, but on Sunday, Hurts did just that with 157 rushing yards and 153 passing yards.
After the big win against Rodgers and the Packers, they have another tough home game against the Titans. Hurts has led the Eagles to a 10-1 record and is trying to make it to the Super Bowl as a one-loss team.
Jalen Hurts MVP season so far
Jalen Hurts had a tough coming before he got to the league. Hurts was a two-year starter at Alabama before losing the job his junior year. After sitting out his junior year, Hurts transferred to Oklahoma and took Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray’s spot.
Hurts picked up where Murray left off and was a finalist for the Heisman his senior year. Sadly, Hurts came in second to Burrow for the Heisman in the 2019 season. Hurts has not let that set him back because going 10-1 in his third season as a quarterback is impressive. Hurts is now in the driver’s seat going into the last six games of the season as he and the Eagles will be heavy favorites to win the Super Bowl and the MVP award, respectively.
The Eagles are in Super Bowl Contention
The Eagles have been electric this season, and I do not see that ending soon.
With Jalen Hurts at his best and having one of the best two receivers in the game, the Eagles are set for a deep run in the playoffs. Devonte Smith and A.J. Brown could be two of the best receivers in the league. Brown’s 2022 stats are incredible, with being top 10 in receiving yards and touchdowns. Being able to rely on these two receivers when the run game is not working will be huge down the road for Hurts and the Eagles.
We cannot forget about the Eagle’s defense being one of the top pass defenses in the league. That’s always a good thing.
A.J. Brown Helps Jalen Hurts’ Rushing Game
A.J. Brown is one of the best receivers in the league.
We need to give credit where credit is due, and that is to Brown and the entire Eagles’ squad. Having Brown on the field is key to victory because if Brown has had too many targets or receptions in a game, the defenses will fall back and protect the passing game more. This will lead room for the run with Hurts and Sanders, who together ran for almost 300 yards on Sunday.
Having a 10-1 season is very impressive, but the Eagles will not stop there, and Jalen Hurts is making a strong case for NFL MVP in the process.
