Heisman Trophy is Bryce Young’s to Lose

Heisman Trophy is Bryce Young’s to Lose

The Sophomore quarterback from Pasadena, California has quickly risen as one of the top quarterbacks in all of college football. Bryce Young spent his freshman season behind now New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones. His year of development and observation has clearly helped his football game.

Young is looked at as a Heisman favorite and as long as Alabama keeps winning, his odds to be the recipient will only rise each week.

He is Throwing Multiple TDs in Each Game

Bryce Young is not afraid to throw the football. He is averaging over 20 attempts per game and has thrown multiple touchdowns in every contest this season. His ball management skills are top-notch as well as he has only surrendered two interceptions through five games in 2021.

What is separating Young from his competitors is his yardage per game. With his multiple touchdowns per game, the sophomore gunslinger is averaging 273 yards per game.

His consistency on the field is unparallel at this moment in the season. If he can continue to put up these numbers and refrain from making big mistakes with the football, the Heisman is right in his grasp.

He is Winning Big Matchups

The young quarterback is leading the Crimson Tide through the rigorous SEC football schedule. Most recently, Young led his team to a 42-21 victory over the now ranked #12 Ole Miss in their Week five contest.

We are only in Week 6 of the season so there are many primetime matchups that await this Alabama team. With his team being the number one team in the nation, every Saturday Young and Alabama will have a target on their backs.

As long as Bryce Young can stay poised in the big moments he will be a major part of Alabama’s title chances and it will only help his Heisman Trophy chances as well.

Bryce Young currently leads the SEC in touchdowns with his 17. The SEC is looked at as the toughest conference in college football and if he can finish the season with the lead in TDs expect him to be in the conversation of the Heisman Trophy.

All in all, through six weeks of play, Young has over 1,000 yards passing, over 70% completion percentage, and a 88.9 quarterback rating. These games are just a small sample size of what fans may be witnessing as a record-breaking performance from this sophomore quarterback.

Mr. Young is one of the best quarterbacks in the nation and he plays for the best team currently in the nation. If the chips continue to fall in both Bryce’s and Alabama’s way, look for his name to be called to the podium at the Heisman Ceremony and have Alabama go back to back with their Heisman winners.
