
Gronkowski’s College Years
Rob Gronkowski played college football at the University of Arizona from the years 2007-2009. In Gronkowski’s freshman year he was able to catch 5 touchdowns and haul in 525 yards.
In his Sophomore year his productivity picked up despite missing three games, he caught a team-high ten touchdowns. Rob Gronkowski’s best game that year was against Oregon when he caught 12 passes for 143 yards.
Rob Gronkowski missed his entire Junior season to undergo back surgery which ended up hurting his draft stock.
New England Patriots
In 2010, Rob Gronkowski was drafted by the New England Patriots in the second round with the 42nd pick. In his rookie season, the tight end had a total of 42 catches on 59 targets, 546 total yards, and 10 touchdowns.
Gronkowski was named winner of the Pepsi rookie of the week award twice as well as named to the all-rookie team.
First trip to the Super bowl
In Rob Gronkowski’s second season he was able to make it to Super Bowl XLVI, however, the Patriots were defeated by the New York Giants. Gronkowski was a key factor in New England’s postseason success.
During the regular season, Gronkowski caught 90 passes for 1,327 yards and 17 touchdowns. During the postseason he had 17 catches and 3 touchdowns.
First Super Bowl Ring
The first Super Bowl Championship for Gronkowski was in 2014. That post-season Gronkowski made his appearance known especially in the Divisional round vs the Baltimore Ravens.
In this game, the tight end was able to haul in seven balls for 108 yards in a nail-biting win, as they defeated the Ravens 35-31. The Patriots were able to beat the Indianapolis Colts in the next round 45-7 to cruise to the Super Bowl.
The Patriots went on to win 28-24 against the Seattle Seahawks. Gronkowski finished with 6 catches, a touchdown, and 68 receiving yards.
Three More Super Bowl Rings
In the rest of Gronkowski’s career, he went on to win three more Super Bowls. In his second Super Bowl, the Patriots defeated the Atlanta Falcons in the craziest comeback in Super Bowl history. Despite Gronkowski being injured for the big game, he still helped his team tremendously during the regular season.
The third Super Bowl that Gronk played was against the Los Angeles Rams 13-3, where Gronk finished with 86 receiving yards. His fourth Super Bowl was with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as he reunited with Tom Brady to win in their first seasons in Tampa Bay.
Gronkowski Career Stats
Rob Gronkowski finished a tremendous career this year as one of the greatest tight ends of all time. He finished with a total of 521 receptions, 7,861 yards, and 79 touchdowns. The four-time Super Bowl Champion has left his mark on the game and will for sure be a first-ballot Hall of Famer. His presence will be missed from the game of football.
